Special Music  During the summer months choir will not meet.  However, we welcome soloists and ensembles that would like to provide special music during the summer months. If you are interested in providing or participating in special music, please talk to the organist,  Ivana Sabanošová.  She will be putting together a schedule for the summer months.

Worship Assistants  Many people will be away during the summer months so we are in special need of assistants for the worship services during July and August.  If you can help by serving as an usher, reading lessons or prayers, or providing refreshments, please talk to Pastor Haug or Pastor Taryn.

Women’s Bible Study  Our study for the year has drawn to a close and we will be taking a break over the summer months.  If you think you might be interested in being part of a women’s Bible or book study in the fall led by Anna, our new intern pastor, please contact Janna Haug at jannahaug@yahoo.com

Tuesday Evening Bible Study - Bible study led by Pastor Haug is held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The Bible study takes place in the Church Flat at Palisady 48.  The doorbell is marked “Schick.”  The final Bible Study before the summer break will be June 22nd.  Bible study will resume again in September.  Everyone is welcome.

Men’s Fellowship Group  will meet on Wednesday, June 30th at 7:30 p.m. at Next Apache. The group will meet periodically throughout the summer and more regularly in the fall.  For more information, contact Pastor Haug at Arden.Haug@elca.org

Attention Youth   The dates have been set for the AICEME youth conference in Stockholm, Sweden. Please mark November 4 – 7, 2010 on your calendars.  This opportunity is open to youth ages 14 to 18.  If you think you might be interested in attending, let one of the pastor’s know.

Prayer Concerns It is often helpful to know how we can pray for each other.  At BIC we are starting a prayer list that will be emailed every 2-3 weeks, with updated prayer concerns of the congregation in addition to what is prayed for in Sunday worship.  If you would like any prayers included in this, please inform one of the pastors.  As always, you can write concerns in the red prayer book by the front door.

Volunteer opportunity to work with the Roma   Every Tuesday from 17.00-18.00, a group of mostly U.S. and other expat volunteers go to the Roma settlement of Plavecký Štvrtok.   At a small recreation center located at the edge of the settlement, they tutor children from ages 6-18 in English.  They have been meeting with the children since last Spring, and funded and organized a summer camp for 46 children in July.  Additional volunteers are needed who could participate in the weekly tutoring sessions or share other skills or talents.  An event focused on art or music would be of interest, and the children very much appreciate the opportunity for outings to museums, etc.   Although it is by no means required, Slovak language skills are helpful. If you are interested in participating in this opportunity, please contact jannahaug@yahoo.com .

Fellowship Hour
Please join us for this time of conversation, coffee, and other refreshments at the Backpackers Hostel just down the street at Panenska 31.  If you are able, please sign up to bring refreshments some Sunday.  Serving as refreshment hosts has become a relatively simple job since moving to the Backpackers Hostel for fellowship.  Hostel staff make the tea water and coffee, set out the cups and glasses, and clean up afterwards.  All you need to do is bring a variety of home-made or packaged snacks or sweets and about 3 boxes of juice for children (1.5 or 2 liters each).
